Springtime Craft Idea
This paper plate craft is a great option for you and your toddler for a rainy day or an indoor activity. The best part is you can hang it by a window like a sun catcher, or even take it outside and use it like a kite!
Here’s what you’ll need for this craft:
1 paper plate per child
Red tissue paper
Orange tissue paper
Yellow tissue paper
Blue tissue paper
Purple tissue paper
Glue
Scissors
Paint brush
If you’d like to hang your rainbow you’ll also need:
Hole puncher
Ribbon
First, you’ll want to prepare your sheets of tissue paper by cutting the sheets into squares, no bigger than 1”x1”.
Next, go ahead and cut your paper plate in half.
Now, you’ll want to take your glue and paint it on the plate in a thin layer. Depending on how fast your toddler moves, you might want to paint the glue as you switch colors. Begin to play your squares of tissue paper onto the plate in a rainbow formation.
Once all of your colors are in place, you can paint another layer of glue on top of the tissue paper if you’d like to keep everything in place.
While your rainbow is drying you can cut strips of tissue paper to hang from the bottom if you’d like. If you choose to hang your rainbow outside, the strips look great when they sway in the wind!
Finally, if you’d like to hang your rainbow go ahead and punch a hole at the top, slip your ribbon through the hole and fasten it in a knot.
