Homemade Father’s Day Gifts

Crafty kids (and moms) can make their own Father’s Day gifts right at home. Dad will love getting a unique gift that was made with love by the ones he loves most. Here are some gift ideas that we think dad will love.

 

I Love You This Much Card

Show dad how much he’s loved with this adorable craft that’s super easy for kids (of any age) to create. Grab some paper, scissors, glue and a marker!

  1. Trace your child’s hand (or if your child is old enough, let him/her trace it), then cut out two copies.
  2. Cut out a strip of paper and fold it accordion style.
  3. Use your marker (or letter stickers) to add the words “I love you” on the outside, and “This Much” on the strip of paper.
  4. Glue the ends of your accordion strip on the insides of each hand. It’s that easy!

 

 

“My Dad Rocks” Paperweight

Dad will love a special paperweight painted by one of his little ones. It’s the perfect gift for any businessman to have in his office for a daily reminder of how much his kids love him! You'll need a rock (large enough to weigh paper down), acrylic paint, a paint brush, and acrylic sealer (optional).

  1. Wash the rock and be sure you get all of the cracks and crevices. Dry it off with a towel.
  2.  Allow the rock to air dry to make sure it’s completely dry.
  3. When the rock is thoroughly dry, paint with acrylic paint. Add a second coat (optional) after the first coat dries.
  4. Write the words “My Dad Rocks” on the rock.
  5. Allow it to dry overnight.
  6. Get an adult to spray the whole surface of the rock with the acrylic sealer (optional).

Apron for the Grill Master

For dads who love the kitchen or the grill, this is a perfect gift that he’ll be able to use year round. You’ll need a plain/blank apron, fabric markers or fabric paint.

  1. Lay your apron on a flat surface.
  2. Either use the paint to make handprints or trace your child’s hands using a fabric marker.
  3. Write “The Best Dad, Hands Down” on the apron (or choose your own message).
  4. Let the paint dry and you’re done!

 

 

 

Father’s Day Notepad

Kids can redo this basic office staple as a gift for dad – and their messages will last well beyond Father’s Day. All you need is a blank notepad cube, wide tipped markers and ribbon

  1. If the paper is loose, wrap a rubber band around it to secure it.
  2. Let your child write or draw on the cube using wide tipped markers (fine tips will get caught between the pages).
  3. Move the rubber band (if you used one) and color the other two sides.
  4. Tie the notepad with a colorful ribbon.
