Learning Apps For Your Preschooler

Let’s face it, we live in a digital world.  As much as we want to shield our children from the dangers of technology, it has successfully woven itself into the fabric of our lives.  Lucky for us, all screen time is not created equal.       

Your preschooler’s education doesn’t have to stop when they step foot out of school.  There are games made specifically for mobile phones and tablets that actually encourage the wheels to keep turning.  Elmo Loves 123s is an amazing example of a game that encourages learning.  In this application, Elmo helps identify and count numbers from one all the way to 20 in between Sesame Street videos, puzzles, and coloring.       

Disney Story Central is an app that helps put your youngster to sleep with an array of e-books featuring your preschooler’s favorite Disney characters.  As your child hits milestones within the app they will earn trophies and awards, reinforcing the progress even more!     

If science is more their style, The Magic School Bus: Oceans by Scholastic might be the way to go.  This app features science facts, pictures, and videos in between games that help hold the attention of your energetic preschooler.     

Habitat the Game takes a different approach by creating virtual pets that encourage nurturing behavior.  Players have to complete real-world actions in order to keep their virtual pet alive and healthy.  Children take pride in making differences in their virtual worlds.
