Spooky Spider Crafts

Halloween is almost here! Quarantine?
Have no fear!

There’s still a place for spooky fun.
Spiderweb crafts for everyone!

There is still a time for tricks and treats.
Homemade costumes like ghosts from sheets.

It’s a different year to celebrate.
But Halloween 2020 can still be great!

Halloween is one of the most exciting times of the year for kids.  One of the best things we can do for our toddlers during this time of uncertainly and instability is continue the traditions that we can.

While some of us parents might choose to forgo trick-or-treating this year, or choose not to celebrate Halloween with a party, there’s still a chance to celebrate…WITH CRAFTS, YA’LL.

Who doesn’t love a good spider craft?  Here’s a couple super simple ideas for you to do with your kids!

CRAFT #1:

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Popsicle sticks
Glue
Black & orange paint
Yarn (black, orange, white)
Scissors
Plastic spider

Step 1: Glue your popsicle sticks together.  The first two sticks should form an X. The third stick should be placed in the center so that the three sticks form a kind of snowflake shape.  See Diagram A below.

Step 2: Paint your popsicle sticks.

Step 3:  Cut 1.5 yards of yarn and tie one end of the yarn string to one of the popsicle sticks closest to the center.

Step 4: Begin wrapping the yarn around the sticks.  Your toddler might need help wrapping and even though it might not totally resemble a spiderweb…they’ll be proud.

Step 5:  Once you can’t wrap any more, tie the other end to the nearest stick.  You’ll more than likely have some excess string which will allow you to hang your spooky spider creations!  Don’t forget to glue your spider to your web.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Toilet paper roll
Black paint
Scissors
Googly eyes
Glue
Paper

Step 1:  Cut four slits on each side of a toilet paper roll.  There will probably be excess so feel free to get rid of that too.

It should look like this:

Step 2: Dip your “stamp” into the black paint and stamp it on to a piece of paper. It should look like a spider body with legs!

Step 3: Glue some eyes on to your spider stamps and VOILA! A beautiful piece of Halloween décor to display in your home!
